Cotrida

Cotrida is a five-year-old girl from Moshi, Tanzania, who recently found a new home at Camp Joshua along with her brother Clemence. Until last year, Cotrida lived with her paternal grandmother, who sadly passed away in 2024, leaving the young girl without a primary caregiver. Her father, struggling with poverty, is unable to provide adequate care for his children. Despite the challenges she has faced at such a young age, Cotrida maintains a sense of hope and aspiration. She has a particular fondness for pilau, a flavorful rice dish popular in East Africa, and is drawn to the color grey. Looking to the future, Cotrida dreams of becoming a nurse, perhaps inspired by the caregivers she has encountered in her young life. At Camp Joshua, Cotrida and Clemence have found a supportive environment where they can begin to heal and work towards their dreams, surrounded by other children who have faced similar hardships.
