Dayana

Dayana is an eleven-year-old girl from a Maasai village facing significant educational challenges typical of her community. Growing up in a harsh environment, she has experienced the difficulties many Maasai girls encounter in accessing education, with poverty and cultural barriers often preventing consistent school attendance. Despite these obstacles, Dayana harbors an inspiring dream of becoming a doctor. At home, she lives with both her parents, navigating the complex traditional lifestyle of the Maasai community. Her love for her favorite animal, the goat, reflects her cultural connection to livestock, a traditional cornerstone of Maasai life. In 2023, Dayana’s life took a positive turn when she arrived at Camp Joshua, offering her new opportunities for learning and personal development. Her favorite color, yellow, symbolizes brightness and optimism – qualities that shine through her determination to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor.
