Mount Horeb Farm

Joshua carries harvested beans at Mt. Horeb Farm.

Southeast of Unga Limited slum, off a country road, Mount Horeb Farm is a peaceful 11-acre plot that is a site for sustainable farming and for learning.

LOHADA grows multiple crops on the farm, including maize and beans, which help feed the children at Camp Joshua and Camp Moses. They also grow vegetables such as squash and cabbage and fruits such as watermelon, many of which they sell to raise funds for the schools.

Soon, the site will provide vocational training to students who have aged out of the school and who don’t qualify or wish to enter secondary school. Plans are underway to build a fishery there as well.

LOHADA is working with Ohio State University to install an irrigation system, pulling water from a nearby river.
